Week 43 | October 21 – 27, 2018

The music of this week, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms by Elisha A. Hoffman (Music by: Anthony J. Showalter), is a hymn of assurance and it is published in 516 hymnals. The writer of this hymn was inspired from the verse of the Scripture which reads: “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deuteronomy 33:27 KJV). As we sing this hymn, we should be rest assured of the refuge, joy and peace we get in times of fear and tribulation when we learn on the everlasting arms of the Most High God.

1. What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
what a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain:
Leaning, leaning,
Safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

2. O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
O how bright the path grows from day to day,
Leaning on the everlasting arms. [Refrain]

3. What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
Leaning on the everlasting arms?
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
Leaning on the everlasting arms. [Refrain]
